Joint Venture between Nation-E and Leopard Yachts is set to electrify the oceans.
Zurich, 4th September 2009 – After excessive interest from industry and the media, Micro Finance Investment AG reveals today its battery company Nation-E. Nation-E will provide large scale storage solutions using Kokam’s Lithium Polymer cells, hereby revolutionizing the energy supply system. Other partners are yet to be revealed. The first 1 MW battery is already in production, and will hit the market in six months from now. Applicable as a storage system for smart grid, the 1 MW battery is the first of its kind, being both technologically and commercially ahead of its competitors. Nation-E announced further the joint venture with the Italian luxury yacht manufacturer Leopard. In cooperation, Nation-E and Leopard Yachts are set to commence the development of a state-of-the-art, free emission, 34 meter long luxury yacht. The solution would contain a fully integrated system with electric motors, and is anticipated to be revealed in 18 months from now. The vision of Nation-E and Leopard is to demonstrate to the world the revolutionary technology with its long term goal to achieve zero emission sea travel. This challenging project will bear fruition with appropriate support, and governments will be approached in the near future to join the project. Micro Finance claims to be on verge of 1MW battery breakthrough

Switzerland-based private equity fund Micro Finance Investment AG announced yesterday that it plans to present a new lithium polymer cell 1MW battery system early next year alongside the unnamed firm that has been developing the technology. Speaking to BusinessGreen.com, Micro Finance chief financial officer Andreas Stamatiou refused to name the company that has developed the technology, revealing only that it is a "world-renowned" firm. The new focus of Lithium is however the battery market, due to its chemical capacity to storage more at less space and weight. Therefore the Lithium-Ion battery is mainly featured in mobile phones, laptops and other small applications, however it is set to be used in electric vehicles and other large scale applications in the future.
